2020 OECD GLOBAL ANTI-CORRUPTION & INTEGRITY FORUM, 25-26 MARCH 2020 - PARIS, FRANCE
Integrity is imperative for governments and businesses to work together on every level: where are the gaps, and how can they be bridged? How can transparency be reinforced within and through civil society? How to strengthen trust between public, private and other sectors for the benefit of society as a whole? Join the discussion at the 2020 Forum with over 2000 participants from 120 countries.
Leaders Panel: The Integrity Connection: Public, Private and Beyond
Globally, corruption perceptions remain high and public trust is in decline. Indeed, only 1 in 5 individuals think that the system works for them. This troubling reality puts into question whether it is possible to improve trust in government, business and other sectors for the benefit of society as a whole.
Yet humanity’s greatest tools–dialogue and action–are at our fingertips. Convening world leaders from government, business and civil society, this opening session will explore innovations in public integrity. Focusing on open government, citizen participation and trust in business, leaders will unpack solutions to strengthen these tools.
The conversation will not end there. Through dialogue with young voices and participants, the opening session will identify concrete actions and forge new pathways for the future. The end goal? Better solutions for better collaboration.
Measuring corruption: Bridging the data gap
Corruption remains one of the greatest enemies to global equality and development. However, until it can be measured and quantified, we are fighting in the dark. This session will present what we know—showcasing new and existing OECD data on corruption—and, more importantly, highlight what we do not know. In particular, experts will discuss the corruption data gap and suggest solutions for better and more accurate ways to measure corruption and its impact.
Speakers will outline the gender data gap in corruption, and show how corruption disproportionately affects women and exacerbates gender inequality, and how efforts to combat it may not take into account gender considerations. The session will continue the call to action for greater measurement, including gender-specific data, to bridge the corruption data gap.
The new frontier: Trust beyond compliance
The fight against corruption must go beyond compliance. Ten years after the global financial and economic crisis, trust in business and institutions remains low and there is a public perception that leaders are not acting in the public interest. Corruption scandals, corporate misconduct and failed implementation of commitments continue to fuel a lack of trust in the system.
A holistic, proactive approach by both governments and business is needed to rebuild trust in businesses and institutions in today’s global and complex economy. This session will explore how trust is critical to move beyond compliance and create a culture of integrity in business and government institutions. With a focus on behavioural ethics, leadership and technological transformation, the panel will explore new solutions and partnerships in the fight against corruption.
